WMH : A Sitdown with Chris Stride

Here's Chris Stride from Toronto, we asked him a few questions about his career, here's how it went.

WMH : What first got you into music?

Chris Stride : Me, myself and I. I learned how to make music by grinding it out. My parents never really played any music in the house growing up, so I was left to figure it out by myself. My mum being Iraqi played me some of that Arab music stuff growing up, and that was the first time I found myself realizing how sick melody could be even in a language ion really speak".

WMH : Who or what inspired you to make music?

Chris Stride : I used to play a lot of soccer and was out in the UK playing at a school over there called Millfield (Shoutout Walton). Upon my arrival back to Canada, I got injured for a few months and one day I was bored like f*** it imma go to the studio and it went from there.

WMH : What is your creative process like?

Chris Stride : I sit down with my notebook and headphones on and I write to whatever beat Im f****** with. I always have to be alone when I'm writing.

WMH : What is your biggest musical challenge?

Chris Stride : Because I look different to most of the other artists I'm competing with, I always feel like I have to go the extra mile to prove myself to mofuckers like “Yeah, I'm really him and I can really outsing yall and s**t”.

WMH : If you were talking to a younger version of you, what advice would you give yourself?

Chris Stride : Believe in yourself.
